A New Restaurant is Moving Into the Former Cedar Rapids Quinton’s
A new restaurant has taken over the space that was most recently home to Quinton's Bar & Deli in Cedar Rapids' Kingston Village! Signage is up for a new restaurant called 'The Blue Dane.'
What Happened to Quinton's?
Quinton's Bar & Deli expanded into Cedar Rapids back in 2017, opening the first of two new restaurants at 450 1st St SW in the Kingston Village. Located directly across the street from the McGrath Amphitheatre, it was a popular spot for dinner and drinks during the summer concert season, especially because of the large outdoor patio.
In July of 2025, it was announced that Quinton's was officially on the market and looking for new owners, and would remain open during the search for a buyer. Then, on November 14th, the restaurant updated customers that the search had come to an end. The Facebook post read:
"The bar has officially sold, and our last day of operation will be this Sunday. We want to thank the Cedar Rapids community for the incredible support over the past 8 years—especially during COVID. You kept us going and made us feel welcome from day one. As we close this chapter, we’re proud to have helped anchor the Kingston Village neighborhood, and we wish the new ownership nothing but the best. A brand-new bar and concept will be coming to the space, so stay tuned!"
Is the Other Cedar Rapids Quinton's Still Open?
Yes! The Quinton's Bar & Deli at 5741 C St SW in Cedar Rapids remains open, as does the locations in Coralville, Iowa City, and Des Moines. You can check out information on all four restaurants HERE.

What Do We Know About the New Restaurant?
There isn't much information about the new restaurant taking over the former Quinton's just yet, but there are signs on the windows with the message, "The Blue Dane coming soon."
According to the official Instagram account, the Blue Dane "is an upscale neighborhood sports bar known for elevated comfort food, quality drinks, and a refined, welcoming vibe." There has only been one post from the restaurant so far, and it's a video of a Great Dane inside the building with the caption: "Opening January 1st."
UPDATE: 1/29/26
We reached out to the Blue Dane to ask a few questions about the new business, and the owner told us that the restaurant is named after their dog, a Blue Great Dane named Leonitis! They also filled us in on what types of food they will serve:
"The menu will feature Mediterranean-style items, [including] flatbreads, salads, & pastas, [and] comfort pub-style items."
The Blue Dane is aiming to open by Valentine's Day of 2026. You can follow the business' Instagram account HERE for the latest updates!
