What to Know About a Popular Cosmetic Sold to Iowans That Was Voluntarily Recalled
With the 24-hour news cycle, it’s easy to miss things. It’s difficult to get every piece of information that might be relevant to you, but sometimes, you learn a thing or two along the way.
What Recall?
Recently, the Food and Drug Administration, with the help of the company First Aid Beauty, initiated a voluntary recall of a popular face cream. If you're not looking, the information may have moved on before you saw it or even heard about it.
First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Cream in Coconut Vanilla has been recalled, according to the company's website. The issue is with manufacturing standards related to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP).
The FDA enforces these criteria to ensure that products are consistently made and controlled according to quality standards. First Aid Beauty says the affected product was quarantined. It had been set aside and was not meant for sale
Is First Aid Beauty Available in Eastern Iowa?
Yes, there are many locations that carry the brand, including Sephora, Ulta, and Target, as well as online via Amazon and the First Aid Beauty official website. The specific moisturizer, Ultra Repair Cream in Coconut Vanilla, which is also sold in-stores, should not be impacted by the recall. The affected cream was sold directly to consumers in Iowa online from the company.
If you purchased the moisturizer from First Aid Beauty's direct-to-consumer website, you are asked to discontinue using that product, and the company will ship you a replacement at no cost to you. The replacement, according to the company's website, is Ultra Repair Cream Grapefruit.
What Does the Company Have to Say?
The company claims they've taken this very seriously. In response to the recall on the First Aid Beauty Facebook page and to customers directly, they say this:
We care deeply about the safety of our products and want to ensure all consumers have the best possible experience.
One customer, Angel, responded to the company's Facebook page post and said this about the company and the voluntary recall:
I can confirm as one of the people who purchased this product, they sent me an email asking me to destroy the product and had already sent a replacement. Excellent customer service!
