A city in Illinois has such a big problem with rats that it came up with an out-of-the-box solution to help combat the rodents in that area.

I'll never forget the first time I ever saw a rat. I was in grade school, and I was in Chicago with my parents. We went to an outdoor market and bought some lunch. We were sitting at a picnic table, and looking up at us was one of the rodents.

Chicago Has Hopeful Solution To Rat Problem

Through the years, I've seen rats many times out in public. For the most part, it's been in Chicago. They seem to be everywhere in the city. I'm glad I don't live there. I don't think it would be good to see them on a regular basis.

With the experience I've had in Chicago with rats, I'm not surprised to hear that the Windy City has a serious problem with rodents. In fact, for the past decade, that city has been named the "rattiest" in the United States.

City officials in Chicago have tried many methods to battle all these rats. They've come up with a new and interesting solution, and I think it could work. They are going to give the rodents birth control. That could definitely help stop the population growth.

Chicago will be putting out Evolve throughout select neighborhoods in the city. It's a low-grade pesticide that lowers the fertility in rats. The best part is that it isn't harmful to other animals and pets. Hopefully, this works.

According to NBC in Illinois, "the effort is meant to cut down on the rat population while also cutting down on the risks that rat poison poses to pets and the environment."
