An Iowa Man Faces Murder Charge After Gruesome Discovery

An Iowa man is facing a first degree murder charge after local authorities came upon a gruesome site at his residence.

Perry Man Charged with First Degree Murder in Wife’s Death

On Sunday, March 16th Perry law enforcement was called to the home of 75-year-old Richard James Hoesing. Hoesing made a 9-1-1 call and confessed that he allegedly killed his wife, according to reports.

When the police officers arrived at the Hoesing residence at around 8:42 PM that evening, they were shocked to find that the wife of the caller was in fact deceased.

The body of Jean Ann Hoesing was found in a bedroom on the main floor of the home that she shared with her husband, according to reports.

The criminal complaint states that officers described her as having a "severe laceration across the front of her throat."

Officers also found a small-wooden handle kitchen knife in the bathroom with blood on it. The report claims that it looked as if it was cleaned, but there was some blood on the tip of it.

Richard also apparently had blood covering his hands and clothes.

Richard James Hoesing Accused of Allegedly Killing Wife in ‘Mercy Killing’

The reason that this man gave for allegedly ending his wife's life was...mercy.

He told officers that he killed Jean to "put her out of her misery,” according to the criminal complaint. 

Reports confirm that the woman suffered from both bipolar disorder and multiple sclerosis.

Dallas County Jail Holds 75-Year-Old Richard Hoesing on Murder Charge

Mr. Hoesing is currently being held in Dallas County Jail, and has been cooperative with Perry Police, officials reported.
