Waterloo Hosts Thrilling True Crime Convention

Spooky season is right around the corner here in Eastern Iowa.

It seems like this is the peak time of year where we all like to indulge a bit in the strange and macabre.

A unique "mini con" is going on in Waterloo this October that will dive into the world of local paranormal happenings and learn even more about the infamous killer clown who called the city home.

All Hall-Loo's Eve Mini Con

This event called the All Hall-loo's Eve Mini Con will take place at the end of October in the Weis Mansion Bed and Breakfast in Waterloo.

During this weekend long convention, attendees will hear from true crime experts, participate in a Murder Mystery Dinner, and even participate in paranormal investigations with real life ghost hunters.

The mini con takes place on October 25th and 16th.

Weekend Schedule

Friday, October 25th, 2024

• 7:00 PM ~ Real Stories of a Paranormal Investigator: Attendees will get to attend a panel and hear from a local ghost hunter.
• 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM ~ Ghost Hunt: After the panel, guests will be taken on a real paranormal investigation around to some of the local sites.

Saturday, October 26th, 2024

• 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM ~ Light Breakfast: (Grab-and-go options like pastries, yogurt, fruit, coffee, and tea)
• 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM ~ Saturday Morning Cartoons Panel
• 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM ~ John Wayne Gacy Panel: The infamous serious lived in the Cedar Valley for several years in the late '60s. One of the first known crimes Gacy was convicted of occurred in Waterloo.
• 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM ~ Lunch: (Catered KFC chicken) Gacy's father-in-law owned several KFC's in Iowa. According to reports, he was the manager at these locations.
• 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ~ Ghost Hunt #2
• 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ~ Local History Panel 
• 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM ~ Creepy Tea
• 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM ~ Board Games or Creepy Doll Panel
• 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM ~ Writing Horror: Guests will be able to get tips on writing for the horror genre from a local author.
• 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM: Murder Mystery Dinner or Downtown Entertainment
