'Yellowjackets' Trailer Teases Fate of Cedar Rapids' Elijah Wood

When one of my favorite shows of all time features an Iowa native, you know I'm going to write about it!

The season three trailer for the Emmy winning show 'Yellowjackets' dropped earlier this month. While most tv trailers give you a bit of a taste of what's to come, we got a whole feast dedicated to this deranged high school soccer team.

There are so many questions that I have after watching the trailer...

What exactly is threatening the survivors?

Just how unhinged will they become the longer they are stuck in the wilderness?

And will our precious Elijah Wood make it out of this season alive?

WARNING: This story will contain spoilers for seasons one and two of 'Yellowjackets.'

Elijah Wood Is From Iowa? I Thought He Was British

Honestly, I thought the exact same thing. His accent is so good in 'The Lord of the Rings' movies that I just assumed he was from the UK.

I'll admit it, sometimes I confuse Wood and Daniel Radcliff who played Harry Potter. They are both shorter men with dark hair, so that kind of makes sense, right?

Elijah Wood was born on January 28th, 1981, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, according to IMDB. His parents named Warren and Debra Wood (Krause) actually owned a deli in the Lindale Mall.

According to reports, Alfalfa's Deli, located on the lower level in the mall was owned by Wood's parents.

Several months before season two of 'Yellowjackets' premiered, news broke of Wood's casting on the show.

The actor plays Walter Tattersall a foil and love-interest for Christina Ricci's adult Misty Quigley. Tattersall seemed a bit too perfect for the sociopathic nurse, but he ended up proving himself a loyal ally to Quigley in the final episode of the second season.

He is a fellow Citizen Detective who specializes in hacking as well as forensics, according to reports.

Wood's character assists in her mission to investigate what exactly happened to Nat who was mysteriously kidnapped at the end of last season.

He manages to lure two police officers to a compound led by cult leader/former Yellowjacket Lottie and *ehem* take care of business.

Will Elijah Wood Be in Season 3 of 'Yellowjackets' Then?

As soon as the cast and crew started shooting season three following the writer's strike, they announced that key players would be returning.

This includes Cedar Rapids native and America's favorite Hobbit, Elijah Wood.

Season 3 Trailer Drops: Teases Wood's Character's Storyline

Earlier this week, Showtime released the trailer for the third season of 'Yellowjackets.'

It was already announced a few weeks ago that the first two episodes would premiere on Valentine's Day. Fans were getting little teases of something bigger dropping for some time now.

So, the new trailer gives the fans a little something to feast on for the next few weeks.

Pun intended...

While the majority of the plot for season three remains under wraps, there are a few big reveals from the trailer.

  1. Nat's leadership is in question. It appears that Nat will face some sort of trial relating to the actions of Coach Ben. Could this be the moment when the girls break off into different cannibalistic factions?
  2. Survivors are now possible targets. It looks like the adult survivors are about to turn on each other. Someone knows what they had to do to survive out in the wilderness and is tormenting them with this knowledge. Is this looming presence supernatural or is the threat amongst them?
  3. Walter (aka Elijah Wood) somehow is still tangled up with the Yellowjackets. Right around the one minute and ten second mark he is questioning someone and asking, "Are YOU hiding something?" Could this quirky character's own curiosity send him to an early grave?

We might get the answers to these questions and more when the next season premieres next month.
